Sacraments and Services

Baptism

Baptism is the start of a new life as a Catholic, and cleanses the soul from original sin.  Baptism arrangements should occur 3 months prior to the expected birth of the baby.  Parents and sponsors attend one preparatory session held every month.  Contact the parish office.

 

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

A process for adults to come and ask questions about the Catholic Church to prepare for Baptism or entrance into the church. For more information, contact the parish office, 630-892-5918 or attend the next Come and See evening.

Confession

Confessions are heard on Saturday starting at 3:00pm, in English and Spanish.  Communal penance services will be offered during the Christmas and Easter seasons.  Confessions may also be arranged by appointment through the parish office.

Hospital or Home Visitation

Priests will be available to perform hospital or home visiations upon request or in emergency situations. Please schedule a visitation in advance by calling the parish phone, 630-892-5918.

For emergency circumstances, contact the parish office during office hours, or the rectory at 630-270-1040.

Funerals

Our loved ones have graced us with their presence on this Earth, and have entered eternal life with God.  In many cases, funeral directors will contact the parish regarding the arrangements.  You may also contact the parish directly for scheduling.

Our parish also has a bereavement ministry, to help guide you through your loss.  Contact the parish center at 630-892-5918 to receive more details.

Confirmation

Celebrate the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Confirmation is celebrated during the 8th grade in Catholic elementary schools, or by candidates who have reached the age of 14.  For more information, contact Sheryl Colwell, Director of Youth Ministry, 630-892-5918 x251.

First Communion (Eucharist) and Reconciliation

Our parish school will prepare enrolled children for the sacraments of reconciliation and Eucharist.  However, children not attending St. Rita School wishing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion must be baptised and enrolled in a Religious Education program.  St. Rita offers religious education classes. Matrimony

The sacrament of covenanted commitment for life between one man and one woman through which they become husband and wife.  To arrange a marriage, call the Parish office to make an appointment with the priest at least 10 months before the proposed date of the wedding.

Quinceañera

Quinceañera ceremonies may be held at St. Ritas.  Contact the parish office at 630-892-5918.
